The Chocolate Festival of Belize is an annual cultural celebration held in the Toledo District during the month of May, recognized as Chocolate Month in Belize. The festival celebrates Toledo’s rich cacao heritage, diverse cultures, local cuisine, music, arts, sports, and tourism while creating economic opportunities for communities throughout southern Belize.
The festival features several signature events, including the Wine & Chocolate Gala, the Celebrate Chocolate Street Fete, and the Cacao Cup Football Marathon. Visitors can also enjoy live music, cultural performances, local food and chocolate products, arts and crafts, family entertainment, competitions, and community celebrations across the district.
Toledo has a long and deeply rooted history of cacao cultivation, particularly within Maya communities where cacao farming traditions have been passed down for generations. The district is home to some of Belize’s finest cacao producers and chocolatiers, making it the heart of Belize’s chocolate industry and cultural cacao heritage.
